The (Govintra) Vacancies widget lists the jobs that are closing soonest alongside the newest vacancies, wherever you place it, most often on the homepage. Each vacancy shows as a card or list row with a date box or closing-date text, and a More link at the bottom goes to your Vacancies landing page. The widget needs the Vacancies module to be on and vacancies to be published: see Vacancies template.
Add the Vacancies widget
- Go to Appearance, then Widgets.
- Find (Govintra) Vacancies in the list of available widgets and add it to a widget area, such as Homepage second column. See Setup widgets on the homepage.
- Change the settings and select Save.
In the Homepage full-width area the widget shows the vacancies as boxed cards four across. In every other area it shows them as a stacked list.
Which vacancies the widget shows
The widget has two sections. Closing soon lists vacancies whose closing date falls between today and the number of days you set, ordered by closing date and then closing time; a vacancy closing today shows a “Closing at hh:mm” alert. Latest lists the newest vacancies that are not already shown in Closing soon. If both counts are set to 0, the widget shows nothing at all, not even its title.
Widget settings
Title
The heading above the list. The default is “Vacancies”.
Closing vacancies
How many vacancies to show in the Closing soon section. The default is 3. Set this to 0 to hide the section entirely.
Latest vacancies
How many vacancies to show in the Latest section. The default is 2. Set this to 0 to hide the section entirely.
Days to look ahead
How many days ahead counts as “closing soon”. The default is 30. The lowest value you can enter is 1.
Cache (minutes)
How long to keep a ready-made copy of the widget so that busy pages load faster. The default is 0, which means no caching and every page load looks up vacancies afresh. A new or changed vacancy can take up to that many minutes to appear.
Calendar date format
Unticked by default. Tick it to show each vacancy’s closing date as a small calendar box, with the day of the week, the day number and the month. Untick it to show the closing date as a line of text instead, for example “Closes 24 November”.
What else appears on each card
The title as a link to the vacancy. The More link at the bottom of the widget goes to the page chosen as your Vacancies landing page and is labelled with that page’s title. If no landing page is set, the link goes to the vacancies archive instead and is labelled “All vacancies”.
To create vacancies, see Vacancies template. For the other widgets, see Available widgets.
