The Vacancies listing template turns a page into the jobs board: every open vacancy, soonest closing first, with a search box and a filter by grade. It is normally applied to a page called Vacancies or Jobs. To apply it, edit the page and choose Vacancies listing under Page Attributes, Template. Then go to Options, Modules, Vacancies and choose the page as the Vacancies page, used for breadcrumbs, menu highlighting and the “All vacancies” link on the Vacancies widget. The Vacancies module must be on.
What the vacancies page shows
The page title, any content typed into the page’s editor, a Search vacancies box, a row of grade filters, the vacancies with page links underneath, and a sidebar on the right. When nothing is open the page says “No current vacancies.”
Which vacancies are listed
Published vacancies whose closing date is later than today, or is today and whose closing time has not yet passed. They are ordered by closing date, soonest first, and the number per page comes from Settings, Reading, “Blog pages show at most”. Closing date and closing time are required on every vacancy. Once both have passed, the vacancy is set back to draft within a few minutes, so it also leaves search results. This happens automatically whenever the Vacancies module is on. To re-advertise, edit the vacancy, set a new closing date and publish it again.
What each vacancy card shows
The title, “Closes” followed by the closing date (and, on the closing day itself, the time in bold), the reference number, the grade, the team (the first one, if several are chosen), the location, and the first 25 words of the excerpt or of the vacancy text. Selecting the title opens the vacancy.
Grade filter
The filter row shows All grades followed by every grade that has at least one published vacancy. Grades are set on each vacancy from the list under Users, Grades, which appears whenever the Vacancies or Staff directory module is on. The same list is used for people’s grades in the staff directory. See Grade.
Search vacancies
The box sends people to the intranet search results, limited to vacancies, with the Vacancies filter applied. The limit relies on the Relevanssi Premium plugin. It searches open vacancies only, since closed ones are drafts.
Sidebar and widget area
The right-hand column shows, in order: the page’s own Sidebar content box (below the editor), a Browse by tag section listing every tag used on an open vacancy in alphabetical order, each going to the tag page showing vacancies only, and then the Vacancy Sidebar widget area from Appearance, Widgets. That widget area also appears on each vacancy’s own page, so keep its contents relevant to both.
Options that affect the vacancies page
Options, Modules, Vacancies has one setting, Vacancies page. See Module settings and options. To show vacancies elsewhere, such as the homepage, add the (Govintra) Vacancies widget, which lists those closing soonest within a number of days and the latest to be published, with a link to this page.
What the page draws on
Vacancies, added under Vacancies in the admin menu, with reference number, closing date and time, team, project, location, grade and tags. See Add or edit a vacancy.
