The (Govintra) Most active widget lists the content your staff are viewing the most, using the page-view data from Google Analytics 4, wherever you place it, most often on the homepage. It needs the (Govintra) Most active plugin set up with a working Google Analytics 4 service account: see (Govintra) Most Active plugin.
Add the Most active widget
- Go to Appearance, then Widgets.
- Find (Govintra) Most active in the list of available widgets and add it to a widget area, such as Homepage second column. See Setup widgets on the homepage.
- Change the settings and select Save.
Which content the widget shows
The widget asks Google Analytics 4 for the most-viewed page addresses over a trailing window, then matches each one to a published post of the types you have ticked. Guide chapters are rolled up to their parent guide unless you tick Show guide chapters, and child projects always roll up to their parent project. A small number of listing and utility pages are always left out of the results. If the Analytics request fails, the widget shows nothing and quietly tries again five minutes later rather than showing an error.
Widget settings
Title
The heading above the list. There is no default — leave it blank and no heading is shown.
Number of items
How many pages to list. The default is 7, and the lowest you can enter is 1.
Days to trail
How many days of Google Analytics data to look back over. The default is 7, and the lowest you can enter is 1.
Hours to cache
How long to keep the results before asking Google Analytics again. The default is 1 hour, and the lowest you can enter is 1.
GA4 property ID
Digits only. Leave this blank to use the property ID set up for the plugin as a whole. Set it here only if this particular widget should report on a different GA4 property.
Include
Tick boxes for Tasks, Projects, Vacancies, News, Blog, Events and Pages. All are off by default; tick each content type you want the widget to be allowed to list.
Show guide chapters
Off by default, which rolls every guide chapter’s views up into its parent guide. Switch it on to list guide chapters individually instead.
Exclude
Search for and select specific pages to always leave out of the results, on top of the pages the widget already excludes automatically.
For the other widgets, see Available widgets.
