The Search screen controls how the intranet search behaves and how the search box looks. Go to Options, then Search. Only administrators can see it. It has two tabs, General and Autocomplete. Select Update to save.
Govintra search is built on the Relevanssi Premium plugin. Several settings here depend on it: Did you mean, spelling corrections, stemming and searching for staff need Relevanssi Premium to be installed and its index built. The other Options screens are General, Modules and Agento Intelligence.
General
Enable helpful search
When a search finds exactly one result, the person is taken straight to that page instead of a results page with one item on it. Off by default. It does not apply when the single result is a member of staff or a category.
Enable search stemmer
Finds variations of the words people type, so a search for “claims”, “claimed” and “claiming” will actually search for the stem “claim” . Off by default. Staff names are never stemmed, so a search for a colleague by name keeps working.
Disable “Did you mean?”
Relevanssi Premium suggests up to five alternative spellings under the results, and on the no-results page, as “Did you mean: …?” links. That is on by default. Switch this on to hide the suggestions. Switching it on also turns off spelling corrections, below.
Disable spelling corrections
When a search finds nothing, the theme corrects the spelling, shows the results for the corrected word with a “Showing results for” note, and offers a link back to the original spelling. That is on by default. Switch this on to search only for what was typed.
Enable attachments filter
Adds a Documents button to the filters on the results page and includes documents from the media library in the results. Relevanssi must also be set to index attachments, in its own settings, or the button finds nothing. Off by default.
Jumbo searchbox
On the homepage only, hides the small search box in the header and shows a full-width search box under the header instead. Use it when search is the main thing you want people to do from the homepage. Off by default.
Search icon
The Font Awesome icon on the search button, typed as its name without the fa- prefix. The default is magnifying-glass. Other choices include search, binoculars and telescope.
Search icon style
The Font Awesome style for that icon: Solid, Regular, Light, Duotone, Duotone Regular or Duotone Light. The style must be one of those switched on under General, Font Awesome variants, or the icon will not appear. The default is Solid.
Use text label instead of icon
Shows a word on the search button instead of the icon. Off by default. When it is on, the Search button text box appears, with “Search” as the default wording.
Search placeholder
The grey prompt text inside the empty search box. The default is “Search…”. Enter one phrase, or several separated by a pipe character, such as “Search | Find a colleague | Try ‘annual leave'”. With several, one is picked at random each time a page loads, which is a gentle way of showing people what search can do.
Search not found
What to show when a search finds nothing. The default is “Sorry, no results found. Please try a different search term.” It is a rich-text box, so you can add links, such as to the A to Z, the staff directory or a feedback form. Did you mean suggestions appear under it if they are on.
Results per page
How many results to show on each page of results, from 1 to 100. The default is 10.
Autocomplete
Enable search autocomplete
Shows suggestions in a list under the header search box as the person types. The suggestions are the titles of matching content, from the kinds of content that are switched on in Modules, and colleagues’ names when the staff directory is on and Relevanssi is installed. Selecting a suggestion goes straight to that page. Off by default.
Minimum characters
How many characters someone must type before suggestions appear, from 2 to 10. The default is 3. Appears when autocomplete is on.
Number of suggestions
The most suggestions to show at once, from 3 to 20. The default is 7. Appears when autocomplete is on.
The filters on the results page
The results page has a row of filter buttons: All, then one for each kind of content that is switched on, such as News, Blog, Tasks, Events, Projects, Teams, Vacancies, Training, News updates, Team news and Pages. Staff appears when the staff directory is on and Relevanssi is installed. Documents appears when the attachments filter above is on. Results can also be sorted by relevance or by date.
