The Full-width page template shows the page content across the whole width of the page with no sidebar. Use it for wide tables, embedded dashboards and reports, image galleries, and landing pages built from shortcodes, where a sidebar would squash the content. It is one of the few templates available for tasks as well as pages.
Choose it in the Page Attributes box, under Template, as described in Change a page layout.
What a full-width page shows
From the top: the breadcrumb trail, the title, the content, and then a Documents list if any files are attached in the Document attachments box below the editor. There is no right-hand column, so anything typed in the Sidebar box is not displayed, and widgets in the Page Sidebar widget area do not appear. Comments are not shown either, even when they are allowed on the page.
Compare the Default template, which keeps the content to two thirds of the width and uses the right-hand third for the Sidebar box and Page Sidebar widgets. If you want a wide content area but still need navigation between pages, use Page with left navigation (wide) instead.
Full-width tasks and guides
On a task, the template replaces the usual task layout, which has a sidebar of related content, categories, tags and Task Sidebar widgets. The content runs across the full width and the sidebar items are left out. Attached documents are still listed.
If the task is part of a guide, the guide navigation is kept: the guide’s name appears above the title, the Contents list of all the parts appears under the title, and Previous and Next links appear at the bottom. Each part of a guide has its own template setting, so set every part to Full-width if you want the guide to look consistent. See Add or edit a guide.
Long pages
For a long full-width document with several sections, consider the Long page template instead. It gives the content three quarters of the width and adds a contents list, built from your H2 and H3 headings, that follows the reader down the page. It is also available for tasks.
Tips
- Images and embedded content are limited to the width of the column, so an image that looked large on the Default template will look the same size, not bigger, unless it was larger than the old column to begin with.
- Lines of text across the full width are long and harder to read. Keep full-width pages for content that needs the space, and use the Default template for ordinary text pages.
