Updates to the Govintra theme since v5.1.23:
New features
- Password change in user profiles — optional, admin-controlled section with strength validation. Disabled by default for SSO sites
- Events page layouts — new admin option to default to List, Week or Month view; visitors can switch using toolbar icons and jump to any week/month via a built-in date picker
- Multi-day events appear on every day they cover in Week and Month views (continuation days marked with a small arrow)
- Pin news updates — new option to surface specific items at the top of the News Updates widget with a “Featured” badge
- “Show news updates first” toggle on the Comms Hub to promote the news updates section above News and Blog
- News groups — new “Owning team” and “Landing page” fields per group, with breadcrumbs and nav highlighting that follow the linked landing page
- Featured image captions now display in a styled bar directly below the image (when a caption is set on the attachment)
- Homepage — new full-width widget area between the emergency message and the column grid (in preparation for future full-width widgets)
- Same-site link previews (the cards generated when an editor pastes a link to another post) now follow dark mode, are sized to their actual content, and support deep-linking
- Italian translation added (1,415 strings); the theme updater can now deliver translation updates
- Taxonomy report with CSV export added to the Content Report plugin
- Most Liked widget “Filter by tag” is now a tag dropdown rather than a numeric tag-ID input
[listevents]shortcode for compact event lists in content areas- Classic Editor is now enforced by the theme itself
Bug fixes
- Training prospectus tag filter now correctly restricts results to training courses (was showing posts from all content types)
- Category archive pagination — “First” and “1” page links now correctly return you to page 1
- Search no longer crashes when filtering results to a post type with no matching items
- Wonderwall in two-column layout: long names no longer push their column wider than the neighbour
- Wonderwall entries now display correctly for logged-out users
- Avatar migration keeps the original upload date for imported images instead of stamping them today
- Manual-style task pages: videos and Gravity Forms inside accordion chapters now render correctly
- Gallery share-by-email / copy-link URLs now open the right image when the recipient clicks them
- Vacancies widget no longer shows an orphan divider line when there are no upcoming vacancies
- Sidebar related list: reciprocal back-links from other posts now appear as intended (the admin toggle works)
- Vacancy single page: team heading hidden when the linked team no longer exists
- Events listings: multi-day events show their full date range instead of just the start date
- Events widget: fixed an unexpected time appearing next to the event start time
- Search results: event entries now show the event start date only (not alongside publication date)
- Related posts on events now filters by event start date and only shows future/current events
Visual improvements
- Consistent pill, tag and badge styling across the whole site
- Tags vs categories are now visually distinct — free-form tags render as outlined pills with a small icon, categories as filled pills
- Tag icons use the brand colour for clearer visual emphasis
- Brand-colour contrast: text colour on coloured elements (filter pills, badges, headers, nav) now adapts to whatever brand colour is configured, so it stays readable for any brand colour
- Training prospectus: course titles in the header stay white after you’ve visited a course
- Single posts: like/love button now sits at the end of the post body (beneath documents); related posts band moved beneath comments with a clear divider line above
- Featured images display at their natural aspect ratio with no forced cropping (single posts and the Feature News widget)
- News Updates widget: improved item layout with stacked title and meta rows
- Intravert promo panel: fixed hairline gaps at the button corners
- Footer feedback / accordion: cleaner rounded corners
- How Do I tiles: tightened gaps to fix an optical illusion at the corners; titles fit better in narrow tiles; tiles use the foreground colour configured on the term
- Header / logo on mobile: long site titles no longer push the hamburger menu off-screen and the logo no longer distorts
Tables
- Wide tables on desktop shrink cell text slightly so more columns fit at a glance (mobile unchanged)
- Edge fade signals when there’s more content off-screen to scroll to
- Scrolling tables are keyboard-focusable and announced by screen readers as “Scrollable table”
- Touch-scrolling sideways now works when dragging a header cell (iOS fix)
- Column headers align to the top so shorter headings stay aligned when a neighbouring heading wraps
- TablePress tables without the plugin’s horizontal-scroll option now get automatic horizontal scroll, edge-fade, and screen-reader support
- Unified header styling across TablePress and inline tables
Accessibility & dark mode
- Search autocomplete: shows a “Searching…” spinner while loading, with spacing fixed so matching words aren’t visually broken apart
- Yellow focus rings consistently applied across events calendar selector, layout switcher, feedback widget, Gravity Forms buttons; dark-on-yellow contrast guaranteed so focus states are never unreadable
- Dark mode toggle (footer): hover and screen-reader text now explain what the button will switch to
- Dark mode buttons reworked with white text and borders over a faint background (no longer using brand colours that could clash)
- Dark mode tables: sortable headers’ hover/focus no longer flip to unreadable black-on-green
- Dark mode Gravity Forms: error messages and invalid fields stay readable
- Intraverts close button: × reliably white in both light and dark mode
Editor & admin
- Post editor preview is more reliable across templates
- Profile edit form: child themes can add their own custom ACF field groups
- About This Page widget: auto-excludes homepage, landing pages, and listing templates; configurable exclusion list for specific pages
- Staff Directory: removed redundant “All” option from the A-Z letter bar
- Guide contents: two-column layout when a guide has more than five child pages
- Wide tables in the editor now scroll horizontally instead of being clipped
- Profile Nudge widget: hidden when there’s nothing to show
- Ultraverts and Intraverts team targeting is now hierarchical — selecting a parent team matches users in any descendant team
Smaller polish
- Redundant “Blog” / “News” / “News update” badges removed from their own listing pages
- Teams listing: team names now look like obvious hyperlinks
- Events widget: event titles use the standard link colours (matching vacancies)
- Author-card panel previously seen on single blog posts is now reusable on other single templates
- Gallery: captions, alt-text fallback, single-column layout on narrow mobile, caption bar styled with the brand colour
